2012 Upcycled Home Goals ][ Making Space for Life
I’ve decided to set some defined goals for our home this year. After moving in 18 months ago, I had a [very] long list of things I wanted to do around here. And I do still have some major home projects I’d like to do…someday. But I have come to realize that 2012 is not going to be someday–and I am actually ok with that. I am working really hard to not let the things around here that bug me, well…bug me [quite so much]. I’ve sort of gotten the main spaces to a place where I like them enough to see the progress that’s already occurred, and not just all of the progress that’s left-to-go.
Not that there is ever really a year in life where there isn’t a lot [LOT] going on, but this year is particularly heftily filled with, well…life. So in order to focus on the life things that are important, I need to make some room–mentally and physically–in our home. For life. And that, people, is the basis of my 2012 Upcycled Home Goals: Make Space for Life.
To do that, here’s what I gotta do:
FINISH. Finish all of the little untidy project ends that I have going around here. Those stragglers just eat up valuable mental [and floor] space.
CLEAR. For the most part I am pretty good about clearing away clutter and donating/discarding things I no longer use, love, or want. But I’d like to take it up a notch this year and clear away a couple of lingerers.
FOCUS. The finishing and clearing will make space for me to actually focus on living and enjoying my life. With a new baby, growing kiddos, and some exciting new directions for my professional life, I can’t imagine a better time to be focused on making space for my life. And if you are observant, you may have noticed the new tagline on my goals sheet above: MAKE GOOD SPACE. I’ll talk a little more about that later, but it is a part of my professional re-focusing that I’m really excited about!
I’m linking up to the 2012 Home Goals Party over at Nesting Place. Go check out what some other bloggers are planning for 2012.
